Discovering Lacco Ameno d'Ischia
The enormous tourism boom that the island of Ischia experienced in the 1950s, which even attracted many celebrities from the mainland, was mainly owed to the little town of Lacco Ameno and the publisher Angelo Rizzoli, who expanded the ancient Regina Spa. Famous for the properties of its thermal waters and the mushroom shaped-rock that became detached from Mount Epomeo and plunged into the sea 10 metres off its shores, which now greets beachgoers, the town is also home to the magnificent San Montano beach, and a large collection of archaeological finds, with excavations dating back to the early Christian era.
