Discovering Imperia
Imperia is anything but a typical town: it boasts the best climate in all of Italy, with over 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, and its coast has been awarded the coveted “Blue Flag” eco-label! The town is divided in two by the River Impero, with the most ancient quarter, Porto Maurizio, situated on one side. The centre of this quarter stands perched on the Parasio promontory, and consists of an intricate web of characteristic “caruggi” alleyways. From its viewpoints on top, the medieval village offers a magnificent broad view of the gulf. The more commercial part of the city, Oneglia, lies to the east, and extends towards the seafront. Imperia has beaches to suit all tastes, ranging from the fine sands of the Porto Maurizio area, to the pebbled beaches of Oneglia, all of which are public and well-equipped. Visitors can choose whichever they prefer!
