Discovering Obereggen
Nova Ponente is a small town in Val d’Ega, in the South Tyrol region, whose position atop the Mount Regolo plateau affords wonderful views of the Dolomites. It’s truly a magical place for mountain lovers, both in the winter and in the summer. Situated at an altitude of 1,550 metres, the panoramic little village of Obereggen is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and lies at the foot of Mount Latemar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the wintertime it’s a popular destination for skiing enthusiasts thanks to the 48 km of slopes and the 18 modern ski lifts available at the nearby Latemar-Obereggen ski area. In the summertime, visitors can indulge in countless outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and excursions to the mountain lodges. There’s also the picturesque Lake Caldaro, where visitors can swim among the vineyards. Want to visit Bolzano? It’s just 20 minutes away by car!
